POLICE ARREST BAUCHI WOMAN ALLEGEDLY INVOLVED IN FATHER-IN-LAW’S MURDER
A 20-year-old lady has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for reportedly planning the murder of her father-in-law, whom she accused of being a witch and who she blamed for the death of her kid the previous year.
The victim’s body was found by command operators in a thicket between Wuro Dangogo and Sarma village in the Misau Local Government Area.
The victim, Damina Lamba, was discovered dead with evidence of a severe head injury, according to Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Muhammad, who briefed reporters at the Police Headquarters on Yandoka Road on Friday.
He claimed that officers from the Misau Divisional Police Headquarters, under the command of the divisional police commander, acted quickly to move the body to General Hospital Misau, where medical experts verified that Mr. Lamba had succumbed to his injuries.
The police responded quickly and opened an investigation to find the perpetrators of the horrible crime.
On October 30, 2024, three people were arrested in relation to the incident.
Abdu Lamba, 20, Ruwa Aliyu, 22, and a female, Rakiya Ya’u, 20, are among the accused; they are all Wuro Dangogo inhabitants in Sarma Ward.
According to the CP, both Abdu Lamba and Ruwa Aliyu admitted their involvement during questioning, stating that Rakiya Ya’u had hired them to carry out the murder.
They claimed that Rakiya thought her father-in-law was a witch and that he was responsible for her son’s death the year before.
She sought revenge as a result of the accusation.
Two sticks apparently used as weapons in the crime, were retrieved from the site while the suspects remain in police custody for further investigations.
