FEDERAL HIGH COURT BEGINS CHRISTMAS BREAK DECEMBER 16

The Federal High Court of Nigeria’s Chief Judge, Justice John Tsoho, has declared that the justices’ 2024 Yuletide break will begin on December 16, 2024.

The Chief Judge’s signed circular, which was made public in Abuja on Wednesday, states that the vacation will expire on Monday, January 6, 2025, and that all judicial divisions would resume sitting on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

Order 46, Rule 4 (C) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended) states as much.

The circular stated that the vacation judges would only consider cases involving the protection of fundamental rights, the arrest or release of vessels, and cases involving grave national interest.

Additionally, the only courts that would be open and able to process litigation throughout the holiday are the key judicial divisions in Abuja, Lagos, and Port-Harcourt.

The roster for vacation judges is as follows – “The Abuja judicial division -Justice  Emeka Nwite and Justice  M. S. Liman will serve as vacation judges.

“LAGOS division Justice  Akintayo Aluko and Justice  Isaac Dipeolu and in Port-Harcourt division -Justice  P. M. Ayua and Justice  A. T.  will serve as vacation judges.”
