JUST IN: SENATE CONFIRMS OLOWORARAN AS PENCOM DG

Omolola Oloworaran’s nomination as the National Pension Commission’s director-general was approved by the Senate on Thursday.

In a letter to the Senate, President Bola Tinubu asked for approval of the candidate.

After considering and adopting the Senate Committee on Establishment and Public Service report during plenary, the Senate passed its resolution.

Committee Chairman, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, a member of the All Progressives Congress representing the Ekiti North Senatorial District, stated that the committee had observed that the nominee met the legal requirements specified under sections 19 (2), (5), (6), and 26 of the Pension Reform Act 2014 (Act No. 4) for appointment to the position of Director-General of the National Pension Commission.

He added that the committee had established both in fact and law that the nominee had satisfied the requisite requirements and was ā€œa qualified, fit, and proper person suitable for appointment as Director-General of the National Pension Commission.ā€

The lawmakers approved Oloworaranā€™s nomination for the PENCOM DGā€™s role when Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, who presided over plenary, put the committeeā€™s recommendation toĀ aĀ voiceĀ vote.
