STAKEHOLDERS CONVENE TO ADVANCE IMPLEMENTATION OF LAGOS STATE ELECTRICITY MARKET, LAW 2024

The Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (MEMR) convened a strategic meeting to deliberate on the implementation of the Lagos State Electricity Market and the Lagos State Electricity Law 2024. The meeting, held at the ministry’s conference room, brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDP) and Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC), to align efforts on achieving a sustainable electricity framework for Lagos State. The Honourable Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Mr. Biodun Ogunleye, presided over the session, emphasizing the state government’s commitment to delivering uninterrupted and reliable power supply through collaborative partnerships. “This administration is focused on implementing forward-thinking policies to position Lagos as a model in energy efficiency and reliability,” he stated.

Representatives from EKEDP and IKEDC pledged their commitment to supporting the Lagos State Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in meeting its objectives. They expressed readiness to collaborate on key areas such as infrastructure development, regulatory compliance, and seamless integration into the Lagos State Electricity Market. Engr. K.A.T. Balogun, General Manager of the Lagos State Electricity Board (LSEB), provided technical insights into the transformative potential of the electricity market. He remarked, “The Lagos State Electricity Market is a game-changer for power delivery in Lagos. By aligning strategies and adhering to timelines, we can collectively achieve energy reliability and efficiency for all residents.”
