
MAN KILLED IN DELTA CULT CLASH
A young man identified as Oyeme Eguari has been reportedly killed in a suspected cult-related attack in Abbi, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident, which occurred on December 31, 2024, during a crossover night celebration, cast a shadow over New Year festivities in the community.
Eyewitnesses told newsmen that the victim believed to be in his 20s, was shot dead by suspected members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity at a beer parlour on Ejakita Street, Abbi.
A source from the community revealed, “He was at the beer parlour having fun with friends when members of the Vikings Confraternity stormed the venue and shot him.
”This particular group has been responsible for several violent crimes in the community, including armed robbery, murder, drug trafficking, and grievous harm.”
The source further called on the Delta State Government and human rights activists to intervene and curb the rising spate of killings in the area.
“We are appealing for the intervention of the state government and human rights groups to help bring this issue to the attention of the Delta State Commissioner of Police,” the source added.
When contacted, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.
“Yes, it’s confirmed. Four suspects have been arrested and handed over to the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU),” Edafe said.
