390 NIGERIAN MIGRANTS RETURNED TO NIGERIA FROM NIGER
A new group of 390 Nigerian migrants, who had been stranded in Niger Republic, was repatriated to Nigeria on Tuesday.
The group consisted of 387 adult males, two adult females, and one infant boy. They arrived at the Nigeria Immigration Training School in Kano at 1:05 a.m.
Hon. Tijjani Ahmed, the Federal Commissioner of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), was on hand to welcome the returnees.
He assured them of the Federal Government’s commitment to their reintegration through various empowerment programs.
This marks the third repatriation batch from Niger Republic, following a similar operation in December 2024 that brought back 702 stranded Nigerians. From February to December 2023, the Nigerian Government facilitated the repatriation of 5,219 citizens from Niger, Libya, and other countries.
A team of officials from the NCFRMI, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), IOM, and the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) were present to receive the returnees. The migrants were quickly registered and profiled to ensure they would have access to reintegration support programs.
