POLICE ARREST 144, RESCUE 104 KIDNAP VICTIMS IN KATSINA

The Nigeria Police Force, Katsina State Command says it recorded 128 major crime cases in February 2025.

The command noted that within the period under review, 144 suspects were arrested in connection with the reported crimes, which include armed robbery, culpable homicide, kidnapping and rape, among others.

While addressing journalists on Friday, at the command headquarters in Katsina, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, said the command’s tireless efforts to ensure the safety and security of residents were yielding significant results.

“Within the period under review, a total number of 144 suspects were arrested in connection with 128 reported major crimes, including armed robbery, culpable homicide, kidnapping, and rape, among others,” he said.

Giving a breakdown of the arrests, DSP Sadiq disclosed that the suspects include 16 culpable homicide suspects, 7 armed robbery suspects, one suspected informant to bandits, 49 suspected rapists and 47 suspects connected to other offences.

“Additionally, the command has succeeded in neutralising four suspected armed bandits, rescuing 105 kidnapped victims, and recovering 13 suspected rustled animals.

“Four locally made guns, 13 pump action cartridges, and five motorcycles were recovered within the period under review as exhibits,” he added.

Commending the officers for their dedication, DSP Sadiq said, “I want to commend our officers and men for their hard work and dedication to duty. Our achievements this month are a testament to their tireless efforts in ensuring a safer Katsina State.”

He expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, the Katsina State Government under the leadership of Mallam Dikko Umar Radda, members of the press and other stakeholders for their support.

“We will continue to work closely with the community and all relevant stakeholders to ensure that our crime-fighting efforts are effective and sustainable,” Sadiq added.
