Lagos Police officers, along with forensic experts, have exhumed the body of 28-year-old Adedamola Ogunbode, a graduate of Lagos State University, from a shallow grave located near the university’s fence.
The exhumation took place on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, following the confession of one of the key suspects involved in the young man’s murder. According to Lagos Police spokesman Benjamin Hundeyin, the suspect admitted to his involvement in Adedamola’s death. The suspect also revealed that the body was not buried at the CCC Ileri Oluwa parish, as previously believed, but instead near the fence of Lagos State University. Acting on this information, the police excavated the site and recovered the body.
Hundeyin provided additional details to the News Agency of Nigeria:

“January 16 was when all this started after a report was received by the Ojo Police Division that the young man went missing.
After the new Commissioner of Police, Mr Olohundare Jimoh, assumed duty on February18, he gave orders to the State Criminal investigation Department to investigate the case.
That was when the case was upgraded from that of a missing person to a case of suspected murder.
This led to arrest of one of the principal suspects who did not only confess to killing the young man, but also led us here, where the victim was buried.
Now that we have seen the body, investigation is gradually coming to an end. We will intensify efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects.
The suspects will definitely be prosecuted to ensure that justice is served. We use this opportunity to commiserate with the family of the deceased. We also thank Lagos State Government for immense support in every area of crime fighting within the state.”
Earlier on Monday, March 10, Hundeyin announced that Olaoluwa Ajisomo, the main suspect, had been arrested. In response to a query from reporters, he stated,
“Yes, it is true. He (Olaoluwa Ajisomo) was arrested yesterday (Monday). He is the principal suspect in the case of the suspected murder of the missing LASU graduate. He cleared the victim’s bank account.”
Hundeyin also confirmed the sealing of the CCC Ileri Oluwa parish where Ogunbode said he was going when he disappeared. According to Hundeyin
“The church was sealed following intelligence reports that some people planned to burn it down out of vengeance, and we don’t want that to happen.”
