JUST IN: OYO ASSEMBLY HALTS LG CHAIRMAN OVER ALLEGED MISCONDUCT

Read Time:38 Second

Emmanuel Adedokun, the chairman of Saki East Local Government Area, has been suspended by the Oyo State House of Assembly due to serious misbehavior charges.

The suspension, which is effective immediately, was declared at Tuesday’s Assembly plenary in response to a petition filed by eleven Saki East members of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Adedokun was accused by the petitioners of consistently disobeying Governor Seyi Makinde’s orders since taking office.

The Assembly instructed Razaq Adeyemi, the vice chairman of the council, to take over as acting chairman in his stead. The secretary of the council will also act as acting vice chairman while the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters completes its investigation.

Adedokun’s ban will be in effect until further notice, the lawmakers declared.
