TWO FUEL TANKERS BURST INTO FLAMES IN OYO STATE [PHOTOS]
At least two tankers carrying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, went up in flames in Oyo State.
The incident took place along the Ibadan-Ile-Ife Expressway, specifically opposite Current Foam, around 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
According to reports, the fire started when a tanker carrying 45,000 litres of PMS lost control while moving, veered off the road, plunged into a nearby ditch, and ignited. A second tanker also caught fire during the incident.
The General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Thursday, stating that both tankers were involved in the blaze.
He said, “The fire incident was reported at exactly 09:29hrs on Wednesday, 16th April 2025.
“Immediately the address was taken, firemen led by ACFS Adesina Olusoji were promptly deployed to the scene of the incident. On arrival, we found two trailer tankers engulfed in fire. We quickly swung into action and were able to curtail the fire in time.
“The fire incident was the result of a trailer tanker loaded with 45,000 litres of PMS losing control while in motion, swerving off the road, and falling into a nearby ditch, which led to the fire.
“The presence of the security agencies was also appreciated for providing security cover during the firefighting operation.”
