POLICE ARREST 15 SUSPECTS FOR THUGGERY, SEIZE DANGEROUS WEAPONS IN NIGER

‎The Niger State Police Command has apprehended fifteen suspected thugs and recovered various dangerous weapons as part of its ongoing efforts to eliminate thuggery in Minna and surrounding areas.

‎In a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the arrests were made in line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, to sustain raids and sting operations targeting hoodlums in the state capital.

‎According to the statement, on April 21, 2025, around 1:45 a.m., the Area Commander in Minna, along with the DPO of Chanchaga Division and other patrol teams, carried out a coordinated operation in the Shango area and its environs, resulting in the arrest of fifteen suspects.

‎Recovered items include two cutlasses, a sickle, scissors, a knife, six sticks, cannabis, and other illicit substances. All suspects are currently under investigation and will face prosecution upon its conclusion.

‎The Command reaffirmed its dedication to eradicating thuggery in Minna to foster security and economic growth in alignment with the New Niger vision.
