FOUR DEAD AS ARMED MILITIA STRIKES AFIA COMMUNITY IN BENUE

At least four people have been killed in a deadly attack carried out by an armed militia in Afia, Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
Intelligence sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama that a suspected Tiv militia member, identified by the alias “Government” and believed to be armed with an AK-47 rifle, opened fire on residents in his home village, moving from one community to another.
Troops from the Nigerian Army, alongside 40 operatives from Operation Zenda Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Anyam Nyor, and other security units, were immediately mobilized to hunt down the attacker.
However, despite their rapid response, the suspect managed to flee and is still at large as of the time of this report.
“Efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspect have so far proved abortive, but the search operation is still ongoing,” one source confirmed.
Authorities say four villagers were killed in the rampage. A full investigation has been launched to uncover the circumstances surrounding the attack and ensure justice is served.
Security forces have also assured residents of Afia and neighboring communities that patrols have been intensified to prevent further incidents and restore calm.
