‎In a major step toward promoting peace and expanding access to justice, the Lagos State Government plans to upgrade the Citizens’ Mediation Centre (CMC) from a department to a fully established Bureau.

‎This initiative, led by the Office of Transformation, Creativity, and Innovation (OTCI), is designed to strengthen the CMC’s authority, increase its resources, and improve its capacity to deliver effective conflict resolution services across the state.

‎During a recent meeting with the CMC leadership, OTCI Director-General Mrs. Toyin Anjous Ademuyiwa and her team of consultants outlined the transition process, expressing the government’s strong support for this significant upgrade.

‎”This elevation underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to enhancing service delivery, fostering peace, and ensuring effective conflict resolution mechanisms are readily available to every citizen of Lagos State,” she stated.

‎She further emphasised the importance of this upgrade, noting, “This transition represents a crucial step in our continuous efforts to promote peace and guarantee that all residents have access to efficient and effective conflict resolution services.”

‎In her words, “The transition to Bureau status is strategically designed to achieve several key objectives, including enhanced authority and recognition of CMC,  Increased Resources and Funding, Improved Accessibility and Efficiency, among others”.

‎Mrs. Aderinsola Olarewaju, the newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the soon-to-be Bureau, expressed her optimism about the upgrade. “This transformation can only yield positive outcomes for the people of Lagos State,” she affirmed.

‎The Lagos State Government anticipates that elevating the Citizens’ Mediation Centre to a Bureau will significantly enhance its capacity to serve the public and contribute to a more peaceful and harmonious society.
