HAJJ 2025: FIRST BATCH OF OGUN PILGRIMS DEPART NIGERIA FOR SAUDI ARABIA
Agency report
A total of 428 intending pilgrims from Ogun State departed on Sunday for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.
The group took off from Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, around 4 p.m., heading to the holy city of Medina, Saudi Arabia.
Before their departure, the Ogun State Amirul Hajj, Alhaji Samsudeen Apelogun, addressed the pilgrims, urging them to uphold discipline and integrity throughout their journey. He reminded them that they represent not just Ogun State, but also Islam and Nigeria as a whole.
Apelogun also stressed the importance of complying with the guidance of welfare officials to ensure a smooth and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage experience.
He said, “As you embark on this sacred journey to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj, remember that you are ambassadors of Islam.
“Please ensure that you do not carry any prohibited items, refrain from any actions that may tarnish Nigeria’s reputation, and adhere to the travel cash limit regulations.
“May your journey be blessed, and may you return with spiritual fulfilment and a sense of accomplishment.”
