FIRE GUTS A RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY IN OYO

‎A residential building was consumed by fire in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.

‎The fire broke out on Friday at Ori-Eni Apapa Ojeomo Road in the Moniya area, destroying properties valued at millions of naira.

‎Fortunately, no casualties were recorded.

‎The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident on Friday.

‎Akinwande said, “The fire personnel led by ACFS Adedeji (Mrs) promptly deployed to the scene of incident.

‎“On arrival it was a private residential building of three (3) bedrooms flat engulfed by fire.

‎”We swiftly swung into action and restricted the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and properties. The fire was jointly extinguished with Federal Fire Service.

‎“The cause of the fire was as a result of overheating of cooking appliance plugged in the kitchen unattended, ignited to nearby combustibles and set the building ablaze.

‎“No casualty was recorded but properties worth million of naira was destroyed by fire. The fire service was able to save all the nearby buildings and properties from the devastating fire”.
