
FIRE GUTS A RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY IN OYO

A residential building was consumed by fire in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
The fire broke out on Friday at Ori-Eni Apapa Ojeomo Road in the Moniya area, destroying properties valued at millions of naira.
Fortunately, no casualties were recorded.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident on Friday.
Akinwande said, “The fire personnel led by ACFS Adedeji (Mrs) promptly deployed to the scene of incident.
“On arrival it was a private residential building of three (3) bedrooms flat engulfed by fire.
”We swiftly swung into action and restricted the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and properties. The fire was jointly extinguished with Federal Fire Service.
“The cause of the fire was as a result of overheating of cooking appliance plugged in the kitchen unattended, ignited to nearby combustibles and set the building ablaze.
“No casualty was recorded but properties worth million of naira was destroyed by fire. The fire service was able to save all the nearby buildings and properties from the devastating fire”.
