The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced a significant breakthrough in the fight against insurgency, confirming that precision airstrikes by its Operation Hadin Kai air component have killed scores of Boko Haram terrorists and destroyed a major insurgent stronghold in Bita, Borno State.
The early Friday morning operation targeted fleeing Boko Haram elements in Bita, a notorious enclave for terrorist activity in Nigeria’s North-East region.
In a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the air assault was described as one of the most decisive blows against the terrorist group in recent times.
“The Nigerian Air Force, through the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai, has recorded a major operational success against Boko Haram terrorists,” the statement read. “NAF combat aircraft carried out precision airstrikes on fleeing terrorists in Bita, neutralizing scores of insurgents.”

The mission, conducted under the cover of darkness, was part of a larger strategy to degrade the operational capacity of insurgents threatening national security. Ground troops have since launched clearance and exploitation operations to consolidate on the gains from the air raid.
“This highly coordinated strike represents a significant leap in ongoing efforts to dismantle the operational capabilities of terrorist elements,” the statement added.
NAF reiterated its commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and protecting law-abiding citizens, assuring the public that all necessary measures are being implemented to deny terrorist groups any sanctuary across the country.
