IHEANACHO SCORES AS CELTIC HOLD RED STAR TO 1-1 DRAW IN EUROPA LEAGUE
By Aishat Momoh. O.
Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho was on target as Celtic FC battled to a 1-1 draw against FK Crvena zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) in a Europa League clash on Wednesday night.
Iheanacho broke the deadlock in the 55th minute with a composed finish, showcasing his trademark attacking instincts. The Serbian giants, however, hit back later in the second half with a well-taken equaliser to level the game.
The encounter, played under intense European atmosphere, produced few chances after the equaliser as both teams settled for a share of the points.
Iheanacho’s strike was his second goal for Celtic since joining the club, a boost to his confidence as he aims to rediscover his best form.
Celtic will now shift focus to domestic duties when they face Hibernian on Saturday as part of their Scottish Premiership title defence.
