The Rivers State Police Command has dismissed online reports alleging an armed robbery attack on a popular bank in Port Harcourt, describing the claim as false and misleading.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the report, which circulated on social media on September 23, was aimed at creating panic among residents.

“The command categorically states that no such incident occurred anywhere in Port Harcourt or across Rivers State,” she clarified.

Iringe-Koko urged members of the public to disregard the false report and avoid spreading unverified information, stressing that those who deliberately circulate fake news would face prosecution.

She reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting residents and visitors, noting that police operatives remain on constant patrol and high alert to respond to any security threats.

“Therefore, there is no cause for alarm,” she assured, adding that residents should always verify information from official sources before sharing.
