POLYGAMY A KEY TO MARITAL STABILITY, SAYS NED NWOKO
Nigerian Senator and businessman Ned Nwoko has once again publicly endorsed polygamy, describing it as a means to achieve greater stability and balance in marriage.
Appearing on the television programme Politics Today, Nwoko drew a comparison to illustrate his view: “Imagine telling you to stand on one foot or leg. You know how difficult it is. But to stand on two, three, four is much more balanced.”
He added that men with only one wife face greater challenges: “I feel sorry for those who have one wife … It’s difficult to stand on one leg.”
When questioned about whether his stance conflicts with the teachings of Christianity, Nwoko argued that the Old Testament endorses the practice. He also reiterated that he has no regrets about his marital choices and would make the same decisions if given the chance again.
Nwoko has previously claimed that polygamy in some regions of Nigeria plays a social and economic role, suggesting that marrying multiple wives helps prevent societal problems such as prostitution.
