Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved the promotion conversion of 654 civil servants across various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state, in a move aimed at boosting workers’ welfare and career progression.
The approval covers officers converted from sub-officer cadres to officer cadres, as well as junior staff elevated to senior positions after acquiring additional qualifications through approved courses in recognised tertiary institutions.
With the conversion, the affected civil servants are expected to enjoy improved remuneration, enhanced professional status and broader opportunities to advance to the peak of their careers within the Oyo State Civil Service.
Reacting to the development, the Chairman of the Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Alhaji Chief Kamoru Abiodun Aderibigbe, JP, described the approval as a significant morale booster for workers and an unprecedented end-of-year gesture by the Makinde administration.
He urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the governor’s gesture by demonstrating renewed dedication, diligence and commitment to their official duties in service of the state.
Aderibigbe also expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for prioritising the welfare and professional growth of civil servants, noting that the decision underscores the administration’s resolve to build a motivated and efficient public service in Oyo State.
