The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a Nollywood production manager, Anierobi Courage, popularly known as Nwa South, for allegedly assaulting a crew member during a film shoot.

The incident occurred on October 28, 2025, on the set of the movie “Lagos to Opulence.” Courage was said to have physically attacked the head of makeup, Mary Chizzy Eze, in an altercation that was captured in a viral video.

The video showed the production manager slapping Mary and subsequently attempting to “press Mary’s throat,” an act that has “sparked widespread outrage on social media.”

Reacting to the incident, the Nigeria Film Crew Community (NFCC), in a statement issued on Thursday, condemned the assault, describing Courage’s actions as “animalistic behaviour.”

Announcing his arrest, the NFCC urged Nollywood producers and other industry stakeholders to “blacklist Courage across all productions.”

Providing details of the incident, the community explained: “The production manager violently hit and strangled Mary Chizzy Eze for speaking up against unequal treatment among the crew. While she has received medical care, he has been arrested.”

The NFCC further emphasized its zero-tolerance stance on violence and abuse, stating: “This level of disregard for human dignity is unacceptable. We stand firmly against all forms of abuse, assault, and crew maltreatment.”
