The direct primary election, which was conducted across the five local government areas that make up the senatorial district, produced what officials described as a decisive and orderly outcome.

Announcing the result at the collation centre in Okene, the Returning Officer, Dr Sadiq Mohammed, said Bello polled a total of 72,399 votes to defeat his closest rivals, Ibrahim Adoke, who scored 319 votes, and Momoh Yusuf Obaro, who garnered 188 votes.

Mohammed stated that the former governor recorded overwhelming victories across all five local government areas in the district, reflecting broad-based support within the party.

According to the Returning Officer, the cumulative results confirmed a clear and decisive mandate for Bello, noting that the exercise reflected the APC’s commitment to internal democracy and a peaceful primary process.

With the outcome, Bello has secured the party’s ticket as its flagbearer for the Kogi Central senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
