LAGOS POLICE COMMAND REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO PEACEFUL, CREDIBLE 2027 POLLS

The Lagos State Police Command has reiterated its readiness to collaborate with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ahead of the 2027 general elections to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process in the state.

This was contained in a statement released on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, following a courtesy visit by INEC officials to the Command Headquarters in Ikeja.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, received the INEC delegation led by the Lagos State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Prof. Abayomi Salami.

During the visit, Salami congratulated the police commissioner on his recent appointment and sought continued partnership and support from the command as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.

The electoral body also emphasised the importance of strong collaboration with security agencies to ensure free, fair, and peaceful elections across Lagos State.

In his response, CP Fatai underscored the importance of inter-agency cooperation in strengthening democratic governance and building public confidence in the electoral process. He assured that the Lagos State Police Command remains committed to providing adequate security support and responding positively to lawful requests from INEC in the discharge of its duties.

He further stressed that sustained collaboration between security agencies and electoral authorities is essential for maintaining peace and order before, during, and after elections in the state.
