2027: 35-YEAR-OLD DLA CANDIDATE DECLARES HE WILL BECOME NIGERIA’S YOUNGEST PRESIDENT

The presidential candidate of the Democratic Leadership Alliance, Moses Adebisi, has expressed confidence that he will become Nigeria’s youngest president if elected in the 2027 general election.
Adebisi, who said he is 35 years old and a PhD candidate at Harvard University in the United States, made the declaration during an interview with Arise TV on Thursday.
He said his decision to contest the presidency was driven by his desire to provide a new political direction for Nigeria after Nigerians encouraged him to move beyond his empowerment initiatives and take a more direct role in politics.
Adebisi said he had been involved in various empowerment programmes, particularly initiatives supporting low-income market women and young Nigerians.
He also highlighted his grassroots digital literacy campaign, which he said was launched following the introduction of computer-based testing for JAMB examinations. According to him, his team provided computers and volunteers to communities across Osun, Ekiti, Oyo, the South-West, North-Central and the Federal Capital Territory to train secondary school students.
The DLA candidate said he eventually decided to enter politics after concluding that his efforts outside government could not adequately address Nigeria’s challenges.
He explained that he travelled to China to study its economic transformation, including reforms introduced in 1978, and visited Beijing and Shanghai as part of his research.
Adebisi added that he also studied the United States’ political and economic development to better understand the factors behind its progress.
The presidential candidate said his experiences and preparation had strengthened his belief that he could defeat President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress in the 2027 election.
He further claimed that the DLA had quietly built its political structure through what he described as a “submarine approach,” allowing the party to establish itself without attracting widespread attention.
Adebisi also claimed that the DLA was the only political party registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission between 2022 and 2026, despite 171 political associations seeking registration during the period.
He said the party would rely on its grassroots structures and strategy to prosecute the 2027 election and deliver what he described as liberty to Nigerians.
The 35-year-old candidate also appealed to Nigerian youths to support the movement, urging them to become more actively involved in shaping the country’s political future.
