2027 ELECTIONS: FAYOSE STRESSES PETER OBI ESSENTIAL FOR ADC’S SUCCESS

Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has warned that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) risks political failure if it does not field Peter Obi as its presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections.
Fayose made the remarks on Monday during an interview on Arise Television.
According to him, Obi remains the most influential figure within the ADC, citing his political impact during his time in the Labour Party.
“Obi is the only person in ADC that matters. When Obi joined the Labour Party, a party many people barely knew, it went on to win seats in the House of Representatives,” Fayose said.
He clarified that while he was not predicting the outcome of the 2027 election, the party’s prospects would significantly diminish without Obi as its flagbearer.
“I am not saying Obi will win the election, and I am not saying he cannot win. But I am saying that if ADC fails to field Obi, its situation will be worse than before the coalition came together,” he added.
Recalls that Peter Obi, alongside several prominent leaders from the South-East, recently defected to the ADC.
