CONSTRUCTION OF 4.2KM RUNWAY: FG ANNOUNCES N825 MILLION COMPENSATION FOR ABUJA INDIGENES
To clear the way for the construction of the 4.2-kilometre second runway at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the Federal Government has approved N825.819 million in compensation for residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
Following a negotiation session with Festus Keyamo, the aviation minister, officials from both ministries, representatives from their agencies, stakeholders from Jiwa, the impacted community in Abuja, and others, the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, announced the news on Tuesday.
The N825.8 billion, according to the minister, is intended to encourage the community’s people to leave and to enlist their assistance in completing the 4.2-kilometer-long Abuja runway project, which was originally given a 2022 completion date.
