BREAKING: YAHAYA BELLO LOSES AS COURT STRIKES OUT BAIL APPLICATION
Yahaya Bello, the immediate former governor of Kogi State, failed his attempt on Tuesday to obtain bail from the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT, High Court.
Bello’s bail plea was denied by Justice Maryann because it was submitted before the former governor had been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
While the former governor was arrested by the anti-graft agency on November 26 and arraigned on November 27, the application was submitted on November 22.
The former governor was arraigned before a court presided over by Justice Anenih on November 27.
On behalf of the Federal Government, the EFCC filed a 16-count complaint against Bello, Umar Shuaibu Oricha, and Abdulsalam Hudu, which led to their arraignment.
The former governor is accused of criminal breach of trust in relation to N110,446,470,089, among other charges, in the case filed before the FCT High Court, designated FCT/HC/CR/778/24.
