BARCELONA RISK LOSING OLMO FOR FREE AS LA LIGA REJECTS APPEAL
Barcelona’s efforts to extend Dani Olmo’s registration have hit another roadblock, as their appeal against an earlier rejection has been dismissed, according to a report by 90Mins on Monday.
The Catalan giants initially utilized a loophole to register Olmo after Andreas Christensen’s injury, but his current registration, along with that of young forward Pau Victor, is set to expire on December 31.
The club’s ongoing financial struggles remain at the heart of the problem, leaving Barcelona unable to generate the necessary funds to meet La Liga’s strict financial regulations.
Last week, their bid to secure an exception was dismissed by a court, which upheld La Liga’s position.
Olmo’s contract reportedly includes a clause allowing him to leave on a free transfer if he cannot be registered, a situation that has sparked interest from several Premier League clubs.
Numerous outlets have now confirmed the failure of Barcelona’s appeal, with the court affirming the validity of the initial ruling.
Fortunately for Barcelona, they have an alternative plan in place. The club has reportedly agreed to a €120 million deal involving the sale of VIP seats at Camp Nou over the next 20 years, pending final approval.
