EFCC ARRESTS 10 OFFICERS IN LAGOS OVER ALLEGED THEFT INCIDENTS
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended 10 staff members from its Lagos Zonal Command on charges of stealing operational equipment.
This action is part of an ongoing internal probe by the agency, which seeks to ensure transparency and uphold integrity within its operations.
The arrest and detention were directed by the EFCC chairman, Ola Olukoyede, as part of a wider effort to combat corruption and unethical conduct within the commission.
The detained officers are being questioned about their failure to explain the disappearance of certain operational items that were under their responsibility.
“The officers, who were arrested last week on the directives of the Executive Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede are answering questions related to the theft of some operational items that they could not account for,” a statement on the EFCC’s X account said on Wednesday.
On Monday, the EFCC terminated the employment of 27 of its officers due to fraudulent behavior and misconduct.
This decision followed the advice of the EFCC’s Staff Disciplinary Committee.
“Investigators are making good progress and those found culpable will be subjected to internal disciplinary processes.”
