During the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations in Lagos, officers from the Ikorodu Command of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps arrested two thieves attempting to escape with stolen goods.

The suspects, 21-year-old Olamilekan Adumobi from Abeokuta, Ogun State, and his accomplice Jabir, who claimed to be a scrap dealer from Katsina State, were apprehended around 2:00 PM in front of the Central Mosque on Kazeem Arulogun Street.

They were taken to the Ikorodu Command office at Ita-Elewa, where they admitted to stealing five cutting discs, two welding tongs, five angle irons, and a hammer. The victims, including property owner Barrister Ade Adeshina and welder Pastor Talabi Adegbenro, were contacted and invited to the office.

Despite the theft, both victims chose not to press charges on compassionate grounds. Instead, the suspects were required to sign undertakings pledging not to engage in criminal activities again before being released.

Commending the officers, the General Manager of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency, Prince (Dr.) Ifalade Oyekan, reiterated the agency’s commitment to keeping Lagos free of crime and warned criminals to steer clear of the state.
