Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos have arrested two suspects in separate incidents during early morning patrols on Friday.

Around 1:30 a.m., RRS officers on routine patrol in Ikoyi apprehended a 25-year-old man, Mohammed Ibraheem, on Alfred Rilwane Road near Glover Road.

He was caught with five neatly folded protective meshes allegedly stolen from the road median. His accomplice managed to escape on sighting the police.

Shortly after, at approximately 2:00 a.m., another RRS team patrolling the Third Mainland Bridge arrested a 30-year-old ex-convict, Segun Akinola, who confessed to stealing his friend’s bicycle.

“I woke up past 12:00 a.m. and I stole my friend’s bicycle. I am riding it to Ondo State,” Akinola told the police, leaving officers stunned by his admission.

The patrol team later located the bicycle’s owner sleeping at a bus stop on Muslim Road, Banana Island. He confirmed that the bicycle had been stolen by Akinola.

Both suspects have since been arraigned in court. Authorities confirmed that the bicycle will be returned to its rightful owner upon completion of legal proceedings.
