Former President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan, has emerged as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Yobe North Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections, securing the party’s ticket for an eighth-term bid.

His emergence reportedly followed extensive consultations among party leaders and stakeholders in the district, culminating in a unanimous endorsement after a successful screening exercise conducted on Monday.

In a statement, Lawan described his selection as a collective decision driven by unity and party cohesion rather than personal ambition.

“This moment is not a personal victory but a victory for democracy, for unity of purpose, and for our collective commitment to the progress of Yobe North,” he said.

He expressed appreciation to APC leaders at both national and state levels, including Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni and other key stakeholders, for their support during the consultation process.

Lawan also linked his emergence to the ongoing reforms of President Bola Tinubu, describing them as bold and transformative.

Addressing constituents, the former Senate President said he remained committed to expanding educational opportunities, infrastructure development, and economic growth across Yobe North.

He outlined plans to deepen digital inclusion, youth empowerment, and agricultural transformation if elected in 2027, adding that his campaign would remain issue-based and focused on development priorities.

Lawan reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC and pledged continued service to his constituency and the nation.
