ANAMBRA CP ORDERS MANHUNT AFTER COMEDIAN, ANOTHER ARE KILLED

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Ama, has directed the command’s operational and investigative units to intensify efforts to identify and arrest those responsible for the killing of media personality Isaac Nwosu, popularly known as “Azia Nwosu,” and another person in Awka.

Ama issued the directive on Monday after a two-hour closed-door meeting with the command’s strategic and operational officers, where information from members of the public, particularly within Awka, was reviewed as part of efforts to strengthen security in the state.

The CP also visited the family of the late Nwosu to commiserate with them and assess the security situation surrounding the incident.

During the condolence visit, Ama described Nwosu as an asset to his family and Anambra State, noting that his contributions to the state and his involvement in the police command’s security advocacy efforts would be greatly missed.

Nwosu and another unidentified individual were reportedly shot dead by yet-to-be-identified assailants on Sunday at separate locations in Awka — S.M. Okeke Street, Amaikwo, and Capital City Road, Amaenyi.

The motive behind the killings remains unknown, while the incidents have heightened tension in the area and prompted security operatives to increase their presence.

Speaking after the meeting and condolence visit, Ama said the command was determined to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killings and bring those responsible to justice.

He said the meeting was convened to strengthen security operations, sustain the fight against violent crime and intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators.

The CP said, “The relevant operational and investigative units have been directed to intensify efforts towards identifying and apprehending the perpetrators.”

Ama reassured the bereaved family and residents of Anambra State that the police command would pursue the investigation with determination.

He also urged residents to continue supporting the police and have confidence in the ongoing investigation into the incident.
