Nollywood actress Lola Idije has cautioned against pressuring women to get married at a young age, saying some are destined to marry at 40 or 50 and should not be judged for raising children without husbands.

The actress made this known during an appearance on the Africanlist Podcast, where she defended women who take on the responsibility of raising their children alone.

According to her, not every woman has a husband to support her in raising children, stressing that some become single mothers due to circumstances beyond their control rather than by choice.

She maintained that being without a husband does not make a woman irresponsible, noting that women should not be judged for their family circumstances.

Lola also questioned the pressure placed on young women to marry early, arguing that there is no guarantee that marrying at 20 would prevent them from choosing the wrong partner.

She further shared her thoughts on motherhood, stating that women tend to become softer when they start having children.
