President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to the family, associates, and the people of Nasarawa State following the passing of elder statesman, businessman, and politician, Alhaji Isyaku Ibrahim, who died on Saturday in Abuja at the age of 88.
In a statement on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu described the late Ibrahim as a towering figure who left indelible marks in business, politics, and sports promotion.
Born in Wamba, Nasarawa State, Ibrahim was a prominent businessman and a chieftain of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN) in the Second Republic. He later played a key role in the formation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the transition to civil rule in 1998.
Tinubu praised the deceased’s contributions to Nigeria’s socio-economic development, noting his leadership in politics, his entrepreneurial ventures, and his passion for sports. Notably, Ibrahim founded the Mighty Jets Football Club in Jos, which enjoyed decades of prominence.
The President commiserated with the government and people of Nasarawa State and prayed for the repose of Ibrahim’s soul, while urging his family to find comfort in the legacy he left behind.
