HOUSE OF REPS MEMBER APPLAUDS ABIODUN, OGUN RESIDENTS AS FLIGHTS BEGIN AT GATEWAY AIRPORT
By: Muftau Fatimo
Hon. Olufemi Adeleke Ogunbanwo (OMO-IWA), who represents Ijebu-Ode/Odogbolu/Ijebu North East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has congratulated Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, and the people of the state on the commencement of commercial flights at Gateway International Airport, Iperu, on Tuesday.
Ogunbanwo, who was aboard the maiden flight that departed Iperu at 9:42 a.m., praised the development as a major milestone and noted with joy that it coincided with his birthday.
The Gateway International Airport recently attained an unprecedented level of certification from aviation regulatory agencies, further solidifying its readiness for full operations.
The federal lawmaker recalled that when Governor Dapo Abiodun assumed office in 2019, the current location of the Gateway International Airport was nothing more than a dumpsite and a pig-rearing area.
He expressed pride in the transformation, noting that the airport project, which was initiated during the governor’s first term when he served as a Commissioner in the state has now been recognized as one of the best airports in Africa.
