APC WARD CHAIRMAN COMMITS SUICIDE IN KOGI
By Adeniyi Onaara
Bunmi Ipinnaiye, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ponyan Ward, Yagba East Local Government Area, Kogi State, is said to have committed suicide in a Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps cell.
Men from the NSCDC apprehended Ipinnaiye for the attempted murder of his son, who was claimed to be fraternizing with some boys involved in social vices.
Our Reporter learned that the dead assaulted his son with a machete on their trip to the property, and that the incident was reported to the Civil Defense, leading to his detention.
According to a source who spoke on the condition of anonymity, the late APC chairman refused to respond to questions when questioned and was left alone.
When the officers arrived to start interrogation, he had committed himself by hanging himself with his belt.
Attempts to contact the Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC’s Kogi State Command for confirmation of the occurrence were unsuccessful since his phone was switched off.
SP William Aya, the police public relations officer for Kogi State Command, promised to contact our correspondent after speaking with the area’s Divisional Police Officer, but had yet to do so as of the time of filing this story.
