ADC DISSOLVES KANO EXCO, APPOINTS CARETAKER COMMITTEE

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dissolved its Kano State executive committee and appointed a caretaker committee to manage the party’s affairs pending the establishment of a new leadership structure.

The announcement was made on Monday by the party’s Deputy National Chairman (North-West), Najaatu Mohammed, during a press conference at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Centre in Kano.

Mohammed said the decision was taken in accordance with the party’s constitution, the Electoral Act and the need to safeguard the future of the ADC in Kano State.

She explained that the move was a constitutional obligation aimed at restoring stability and ensuring the smooth continuation of the party’s activities in the state.

According to her, the party’s constitution provides clear mechanisms for addressing leadership challenges and maintaining organisational continuity whenever a vacuum arises.

Mohammed noted that the national leadership had acted to preserve the unity, continuity and constitutional integrity of the party, stressing that responsible leadership must intervene when circumstances threaten the stability of a political organisation.

She said political parties thrive on order, discipline and continuity, warning that uncertainty and confusion could undermine the party if timely action is not taken.

The ADC chieftain urged members not to view the caretaker committee as a reflection of dissatisfaction with the outgoing leadership or the commitment of party faithful across the state.

She described party members as the backbone of the ADC, acknowledging the sacrifices many had made over the years to build and sustain the party at the grassroots level.

Mohammed also appealed to stakeholders and members to support the transitional arrangement and work together in the interest of the party.

She expressed confidence that adherence to the party’s constitution and democratic principles would strengthen the ADC’s future in Kano State.

The newly constituted caretaker committee will be led by Alhaji Umar Bala as chairman, while Isma’il Musa will serve as secretary.
