President Bola Tinubu had a private meeting with Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday.

Adeleke, who was reelected on Saturday, August 15, arrived at the State House around 5:20 pm and went directly to the president’s office for the meeting.

This meeting happened not long after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) gave Adeleke the official certificate of return.

Adeleke ran for office as part of the Accord party and received 511,067 votes, which was more than Bola Oyebamiji from the All Progressives Congress (APC), who got 444,815 votes.

The governor won 19 out of the state’s 30 local government areas, beating 14 other candidates, including Oyebamiji and Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (AD), who came in third with just 17,180 votes.

“His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him,” the statement quoted Tinubu as saying.

“I wish him great success as he prepares to lead the state for the next four years. Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election.

Oluwole Oke, who is the directorgeneral of the APC governorship campaign committee for the Osun election, said they won’t quickly celebrate Ademola Adeleke’s win.He said the APC still thinks the Accord candidate didn’t get the most valid votes in the August 15 election.
