Former media aide to the late ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has called on the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to retain Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle.

Ahmad praised Chelle’s deep understanding of the team’s technical dynamics and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the Super Eagles to continental dominance.

In a post on X, he stated:
“After last night’s result, which wasn’t what we all hoped for, I hope the NFF will continue with Coach Eric Chelle, as he has clearly demonstrated a strong understanding of the Super Eagles’ technical dynamics. If he is retained and given the necessary support, the team will surely dominate the continent in future tournaments.”

The comments followed Nigeria’s 4-2 loss to Morocco’s Atlas Lions on penalties at the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Wednesday night. The match had ended goalless after extra time before being decided by the shootout.
