The Nigerian Army has handed over a 36-year-old man, Animashaun Khalid, to the Lagos State Police Command after he was arrested for impersonating an Army Major.

Khalid was apprehended by soldiers at the Arena Market in Oshodi with a forged Nigerian Army identity card bearing his name and the rank of Major. He was immediately transferred to the police in what authorities described as a seamless inter-agency operation.

According to the police, the case has been assigned to Special Squad I for a thorough investigation to trace the source of the forged ID, identify possible accomplices, and determine whether the suspect had used the fake identity to commit other offences. The suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, commended the Nigerian Army for the swift arrest and prompt handover. He emphasized the importance of synergy among security agencies in tackling crime and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities.

Police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Monday, assured that the collaboration between security forces would continue to enhance safety across Lagos State.
