Mikel Arteta has the highest win percentage of any Arsenal manager who has been in charge for at least 50 matches. His 60.9% win rate is better than Arsene Wenger and other famous managers in the club‘s history.

Arsenal shared this fact in a special post on their official website on Wednesday, after announcing Arteta’s new contract, which will keep him at the club until 2030.

The club said Arteta is “already one of our all-time greats” after guiding Arsenal to the Premier League title, a Champions League final, an FA Cup and four successive top-two finishes in the league.

The 44-year-old has managed 361 matches for Arsenal, winning 220, drawing 67 and losing 74 to give him a 60.9 per cent win rate.

That is the highest among Arsenal managers who have overseen at least 50 matches.

Wenger, Arsenal’s longest-serving manager, recorded a 57.2 per cent win rate from 1,235 matches, while Unai Emery had a 55.1 per cent rate from 78 games.

Harry Bradshaw, Herbert Chapman and George Graham are among the other managers below Arteta on the club’s list.

Arsenal said: “But what he holds over the six men to have presided over more Arsenal matches than him is the best win percentage of any of his predecessors from his 360 matches in charge so far.”

Arteta’s 60.9 per cent figure comes despite him having managed fewer games than the six Arsenal bosses who have taken charge of more matches than him.

Having passed the 350-game landmark towards the end of last season, Arteta is expected to reach 400 matches as Arsenal manager during the 2026/27 campaign.

The club also pointed to his achievements in the Premier League, where he has already reached 150 victories.

He achieved that milestone in 249 matches, with only four managers reaching 150 Premier League wins faster.

Arteta’s current 2.01 points-per-game average in the Premier League also ranks seventh among managers with at least 50 matches in the competition.

Pep Guardiola leads that list with 2.28 points per game, followed by Sir Alex Ferguson on 2.17, Jurgen Klopp on 2.11, Roberto Mancini on 2.05, Antonio Conte on 2.03 and Jose Mourinho on 2.02.

Arteta also became the youngest Arsenal manager to win the league championship, at 44 years and 54 days, narrowly surpassing Graham, who was 124 days older when he led Arsenal to the 1988/89 title.

Arsenal said Arteta’s record places him among the club’s most successful managers as he begins the next stage of his tenure following his new contract.
