BAUCHI POLICE ARREST SUSPECT, RECOVER N2.26M STOLEN ROOFING SHEETS

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man and recovered stolen roofing sheets worth N2.26 million following a burglary in Azare, Katagum Local Government Area.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, the breakthrough was achieved through intelligence-led policing and routine patrols after a shop owner reported that his business premises along Kano Road had been broken into with a master key and 460 metres of Stonecut roofing sheets stolen.
Detectives from the Azare Police Division swiftly launched an investigation and, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted the stolen roofing materials along the Azare–Jama’are Road. The operation led to the arrest of one suspect, identified as Muktari Rufa’i, while the recovered items were valued at N2.26 million.
Police said the suspect confessed during interrogation and allegedly identified an accomplice, Evra Pizo, who remains at large. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
The arrested suspect is in police custody, while the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended officers of the Azare Division for their prompt response and urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to support crime-fighting efforts.
