BAYELSA DEPUTY GOVERNOR SLUMPS, RUSHED TO FEDERAL MEDICAL CENTRE

BY ALICE IDOWU
Tension spread through Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, on Thursday when Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo is said to have collapsed and was taken quickly to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Yenagoa.
The event happened around 1:30 pm while the deputy governor was in his office, leading to an immediate emergency action. People who saw what happened said he was in a critical condition when he was taken to the hospital‘s emergency department.
Senator Ewhrudjakpo is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at FMC and is stable. There hasn’t been an official statement about why he was taken to the hospital, but some people think it might have been because of a heart problem.
A person who knows the deputy governor said, “He works a lot and should take some time to rest.”
The hospital has been locked down by security, and some high–level government officials have gone to visit and show their concern.
We tried to get a comment from the deputy governor‘s media assistant, Mr. Doubara Atasi, but we couldn’t reach him. However, hospital sources told our reporter that Ewhrudjakpo is getting the best care available and is doing well.
