BENUE LAWMAKER CONDEMNS ONGOING KILLINGS OF HIS CONSTITUENTS

BY OWOLABI OLWUADARA
A representative of the Benue State House Assembly, Mr. Peter Uche (APC, Guma I), has lamented the ongoing fatalities of his constituents at the hands of bandits.
Uche informed the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Makurdi that individuals within the constituency are being brutally attacked by the assailants on a daily basis.
The lawmaker expressed sadness that the daredevil bandits perpetrate the heinous crimes unhindered, even with the presence of security agencies.
Only yesterday, on Monday, three individuals lost their lives, and six others sustained severe injuries.
“In a scenario where individuals are being killed, and security agencies can hear gunfire, it perplexes me that they are reluctant to approach the vicinity. This is something I find incomprehensible.

“It is a circumstance that has deeply astonished me, which is the reason my constituents are demonstrating.
“They cannot have security in their vicinity and still face attacks, with the offenders escaping justice.
“I am uncertain; perhaps they are awaiting some form of directive, but I fail to understand why it proves to be so challenging,” he stated.
He implored the security agencies to enhance their efforts in safeguarding lives and properties.
The legislator urged the military to improve their response times to reduce harm and facilitate arrests.
Uche appealed to the people to always be conscious of their environment.
He advised them to report suspicious movement or persons to security agencies.
