The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has ordered a full investigation into incidents arising from the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 quarter-final matches, including the clash between Nigeria and Algeria.
In a statement released on Monday, CAF condemned what it described as “unacceptable behaviour” by some players and officials during the tournament. The football body confirmed that it has opened investigations into incidents from two quarter-final fixtures: Cameroon vs Morocco and Algeria vs Nigeria.
CAF said it has reviewed official match reports and video footage indicating possible misconduct by individuals involved in the games. The cases have been referred to the CAF Disciplinary Board, which will determine appropriate sanctions should any individuals be found culpable.
The continental football governing body also disclosed that it is reviewing video footage related to alleged misconduct by members of the media in the mixed zone area.
CAF reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on inappropriate behaviour at its competitions, particularly actions directed at match officials or organizers.
“CAF strongly condemns any conduct that is inconsistent with the professional standards expected at CAF events,” the statement said, adding that decisive action would be taken against anyone found guilty of misconduct.
Further updates are expected following the conclusion of the disciplinary process.
