The Rivers State House of Assembly is set to resume plenary today, ahead of its originally scheduled return on January 26.
The unexpected resumption comes amid the ongoing political rivalry between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.
Reports indicate that a majority of the House members remain loyal to Minister Wike and have pledged to challenge Governor Fubara in the 2027 elections.
The ongoing power struggle between Wike and Fubara has heightened uncertainties and stirred political tension in the oil-rich Niger Delta state.
