CP TIJANI FATAI LEADS LAGOS PEACE WALK, LAUNCHES ANTI-THUGGERY CAMPAIGN FOR YOUTH DAY 2026

In a major move to curb youth violence, the Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, psc, mnips, today led a high-profile Peace Walk to celebrate International Youth Day 2026. The event, held under the global theme “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” also served as the official launch of the Command’s new Campaign Against Political and Digital Thuggery.
The initiative complies with the strategic directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, who has mandated all police formations to strengthen community-police relations and position young people as central partners in national security and peacebuilding.
The Peace Walk drew heavy participation from critical youth stakeholders and civil society groups across the state, including representatives from:

- National Youth Service Corps (NYSC)
- Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV)
- National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS)
- Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC)
- National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW)
- Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN)
- Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN)
- National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP)
During the rally, CP Fatai and allied stakeholders sensitised the public on the urgent need to steering youth away from social vices. The campaign specifically targets the elimination of political thuggery, cyber-bullying, drug abuse, cultism, and street hooliganism, while actively advocating for positive civic engagement and community development.
The Lagos State Command remains dedicated to maintaining an inclusive approach to safety, ensuring that the state’s youth population remains a force for national growth rather than social disruption.
