DELTA POLICE ARREST CONTENT CREATOR OVER ALLEGED RAPE, DEATH OF 20-YEAR-OLD WOMAN

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a popular content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as “Odogwu of Asaba,” over the alleged rape of a 20-year-old woman who later died while receiving treatment in hospital.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed the arrest in a statement posted on his X handle on Wednesday.
According to the police, the 40-year-old suspect, a resident of Asaba, allegedly invited the victim to Delta State under the guise of mentoring her in content creation.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly lured the woman to his hotel room in Asaba, where he reportedly assaulted and raped her.
The police further stated that the victim recorded a video narrating her ordeal before allegedly ingesting a poisonous substance.
She was rushed to a medical facility for treatment but later died.
“The Delta State Police Command has arrested a popular content creator, one Ifeanyi Ogbonna, male, aged 40, also popularly known as ‘Odogwu of Asaba,’ in connection with the alleged rape of a 20-year-old girl.
“The suspect invited the victim to Asaba in the guise of teaching her content creation, lured her to his hotel room, allegedly tortured and raped her. The deceased, who could not withstand the trauma, made a video of her encounter, then took insecticide. She eventually died while receiving treatment,” the statement read.
The police said the suspect is in custody while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
