Operatives of the State Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU) of the Delta State Police Command have intercepted suspected adulterated beverages and arrested a 44-year-old driver in connection with the consignment.

The suspect was arrested on August 17, 2026, during a stop-and-search operation along the Warri–Agbarho Expressway after police operatives intercepted a Toyota Sienna vehicle conveying quantities of “Gbefun Hot Drink,” suspected to be adulterated.

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said further investigations led SAKU operatives to a warehouse at Lower Ginuwa, Warri, where they recovered additional quantities of the suspected adulterated beverage, other drinks and a Suzuki Shuttle bus loaded with similar products.

Edafe said the suspected operators of the warehouse fled upon sighting the police.

He added that efforts were ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects and determine the source of the products as well as their distribution network.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the operatives and directed that investigations be pursued diligently to apprehend all suspects connected with the cases.

He urged members of the public to continue supporting the police with credible and timely information.

Similarly, the command has recorded operational breakthroughs in Agbor and Warri, resulting in the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of ammunition.

“Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU), Ubulu-Uku, arrested one Happiness Clifford, female, aged 28 years, in connection with suspected gun-running activities in Agbor, Ika South LGA

A search of the suspected hideout led to the recovery of 10 live cartridges concealed in a bucket.

“During preliminary investigation, the suspect allegedly identified her husband, one Clifford Okoro, as a major supplier of the ammunition.

“Investigation is ongoing, while efforts have been intensified to apprehend him,” Edafe stated.
